The renewed popularity of vinyl records in the digital age is one of the music industry's most interesting phenomena. In 2022, vinyl sales surpassed CD sales for the first time in 35 years. But why? Firstly, the warmth and depth of analog sound offers qualities missing from digital recordings. Even the so-called "crackle" noise of records is embraced by listeners as a nostalgic element. Additionally, records offering a physical music experience present a tangible alternative to digital abstraction. Cover designs, liner notes and collectible value turn records into art objects as well as music mediums. In Turkey too, record stores have multiplied in recent years while local artists have begun releasing vinyl pressings again.
